Lake Fairfax County Park / Baltimore / Washington DC (by Asher)

Lake Fairfax is a public park so anyone could come in. As we were coming in we saw that there was a skateboard park about 100 ft. from our site. Almost every day we went over to the skate park to watch people practice on it.

A few times I woke up and got ready as fast as I could. Then I grabbed my RC car and headed over to the skate park before anyone else got there. Driving my car around was really fun, especially in the bowls. And one night after the lights went out and people left I drove my car in the bowls using only the headlights to see.

The park didn't have laundry so we had to go find a laundromat. It cost about 7 dollars in quarters.

Fiji had been having problems so on the night we got there dad took her to the vet and put her down. She was 17 years, 4 months, and 20 days old.

The Water Mine is a water park that is in Lake Fairfax park. We went there one day and it had: three big slides, two slides named Big Pete and Little Pete, a big bucket, a mushroom, a lazy river, and of course, lots of water.

When I was at the skate park with my car I noticed some people over at the edge of the field behind the skate park. When I went over to look I saw that they were a news station and people with four alpacas. I went back to the RV and told the others. When we went over they let us pet the alpacas, and I found out that they were one of the softest animals I had ever felt, along with rabbits and kangaroos. Later we found out that Fox 5 News was doing a special on animals and they had gone there to do it.

On Saturday, we went to Baltimore in Maryland. We went to an aquarium that had a rain forest with a two-toed sloth. There was a giant tank with fish that we walked by, then there was a big tank with sharks including a tiger shark and a saw tooth shark. There was a room with tanks of jellyfish, and there was a giant pool with six dolphins in it. We got to see the dolphins get fed fish and do some tricks.

After the aquarium we walked to a market and got lunch. Then we walked back to get our car and drove to a crab place. We went to a park to eat the crabs. Jordan had been saying how she hated crab, but she found that she loved it once she started eating it.

When we got back there were cars lined up out the gate. Every year Lake Fairfax Park puts on a fireworks show on July 3rd. Because we were staying at the park we got to see it for free. We found a nice place down by the water. Almost all of the people that came were on the other side of the lake, so we weren't very crowded. We had a direct line of sight to the launch tubes for the fireworks, so we could see them launching. Something went wrong and only one launched. It seemed to go slowly up and then exploded. 10-15 mins later they got it fixed and the show went on. After the show, dad said that he thought they shot off half the fireworks in the last 30 seconds.

The next day on July 4th, we took a train into Washington DC. We couldn't go in the buildings, but we looked at the White House, Capitol, Washinton Monument, Archives, and Museum of Natural History.

At about two o'clock we went through the security checkpoints into the area by the Washington Monument, reflecting pool, and Abraham Lincoln Memorial. After we looked at the Monument and the Lincoln Memorial we found a spot by the Monument and began a six hour wait. This is when we started waiting:

This is an hour before it started:

When the fireworks went off we were suprised that they didn't just go from the reflecting pool. They also went from the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial. Four times I thought that it was the grand finale. We really knew when the real grand finale went. It was crazy.

After the show, we took the train back to the car and drove back to the RV.
