Robb Family Farm

Harvest Hosts. I love them. I love getting local produce and eating it right away. Robb Family Farm was no different.

We traveled from Maine to Battleboro, Vermont. Along the way, I listened to my audio book, "One in a Million Boy," which was really about a 104 year old Lithuanian woman. I stopped the audio book at Intervale Pancake House/Ice-cream House to try some of New Hampshire's delicious Maple Ice Cream. I am fan! In fact, all of us liked it, (well Asher only likes Strawberry and thankfully they had that too, along with a lot of other flavors.)

I started the book again until it finished and shortly after we arrived with Helen and her husband greeting us at the end of their driveway. "Oh you just missed it. We had a whole bunch of Lithuanians that came and danced and sang and they just left." This trip is a little hard on the heart when it comes to timing. There are many things that we miss or are too early for and these disappointments makes my heart sad. I breath a big breath. It was incredible that they were Lithuanians and not one of the other 194 countries in the world. They also stopped here. Right here. There have been many other times on this RV trip where what I was reading in a book matched up perfectly with life. For example, this happened when I was reading the "Boston" chapter in "The Trumpet in the Swan" to the kids the day before we met the Lays in Boston, Massachusetts and we parked right next to the Swan boats! (Thank you Marc for paying for all of us to ride on it!) I don't think those are coincidences. I think God can use these words to speak in my heart in some way so I can praise and thank him and feel Loved by Him. How much more can God use His Word to speak into my heart! So I opened up His Word and read in Psalms and reread it again and zeroed in on Psalm 9:10. "And those who know your name will put their trust in You. For You, Lord, have not abandoned those who seek You." I prayed this prayer for my friends' camp and texted it to her to tell her that I was using this verse to pray. She texted back and said that this was the theme verse for the camp! Joy! Praise the Lord! How amazing you are! How awesome is Your Word!

Back to the farm..

Helen and her husband lived in the house across the street from the store. They took us around to the back for a private tour. We could see tubes all along the maple trees where they had tapped into them and there were thousands of taps. In February/March, the clear sap runs into the sugar house, a room where they had a big new and improved machine from Canada that cooked the sap in 20 minutes. Next, they bottled it. Last, we were brought into the store where we enjoyed samples of the syrup. We bought a half gallon of the deliciousess. We also purchased maple chapstick, some jellies and Vermont cheeses too. I bought Helen's Pancake Mix and made that for dinner. While I cooked, the rest of the family enjoyed a nice free campfire until it rained. The pancakes and syrup were a hit!
