Voyageurs National Park
Voyageurs (so spelled because it is named after French fur traders) is a tough park to fully appreciate without a boat. We don't have a boat. That constrained us to the shoreline.
We took a number of small hikes and spent some time on the shore of Kabetogama Lake.
We ate lunch overlooking a tranquil pond where beavers were known to live, but we didn't see any. Caleb spotted a pileated woodpecker for us on one of the hikes. We also saw white pelicans in the lake. We would end up seeing many more over the following days, but this was the time when we learned that pelicans don't just live on the oceans. Who knew? Maybe you, but not us.
