Bake Sale (by Caleb)
On the RV trip I found out I wanted to do a sale. A couple years ago I sold plants. I liked it, because it was profitable and I got to meet a lot of people. I wanted to do it on this RV trip, because I hadn't met a lot of different people. Also, dad only gives us allowance every four weeks and I want some more money. Plus, when I did my plant sale, I learned that I liked being an entrepreneur (a person who sells items).
So I found some recipes and bought some ingredients and learned how expensive grocery items can be. I was going to also buy ingredients for snicker doodle cookies, but I didn't have the money for them. Later I unfortunately found out that I didn't have enough chocolate chips! I had to wait until the next allowance to buy them. By then I didn't just want to sell chocolate chip cookies and butterscotch chip cookies, I wanted something else to sell, but what? The next time we went to the store I bought brownies and cupcakes. I had just enough money, because if it was 50 more cents I wouldn't have been able to afford it all.
After waiting weeks and weeks, I couldn't wait any longer. So at Duke's Slickrock Campground I did my bake sale! After some setbacks (forgetting to get shortening and having to walk to the store to get some), I finally set everything up on a picnic table and opened my bake sale! The prices for the stuff I was selling went like this:
- Brownies - $1.00
- Cupcakes - $1.00
- Chocolate chip cookie - $0.75
- Butterscotch chip cookie - $0.75
My bake sale was a success! I got about six customers and earned about $37! And I only used half my dough. So at another store, I bought brownies, cupcakes, and hot chocolate (because it's getting super cold) for a future sale. Wish me luck!
