Still Trippin'

I know, I know... it's been a long time since we've posted. I am personally 7 national parks behind on my posts. And all of us are collectively a dozen or so campsites behind. They are coming.

The last few months have been consumed with too much moving around and too much work.

We've known since the start of this trip that I had to be in Las Vegas at the end of September for a convention. The entire first 6 months of the trip were scheduled with that fact in mind. Because this country is apparently really large, it forced us to move more often than we would have without the deadline.

Moving is time intensive, and I am not just talking about the actual driving. There's the pack up, the move itself, and the setup at the new site. We've gotten it down to a science, but it still takes time. And one thing I've learned about myself is that I need a break after navigating a 13 ton box on wheels for hours on end. What that means is that I haven't been in a rush to whip out the laptop when we arrive to a new site. I prefer to sit and do nothing.

Now that we're through that commitment in Las Vegas, we're going to slow things down a bit.

I also had a number of side job obligations that consumed my evenings over the past two months. So after finishing my main job and eating dinner, I'd work the side job until (and often after) the kids go to bed.

All that to say, blogging has taken a backseat to life, which is fine. But we need to get back at it (and not just for you, dear reader, but for our future selves who are going to be reading this thing to reminisce).

If we do a good job, posts should be coming fast and furious over the coming days and weeks as we catch up. And it's going to be very confusing because we'll be talking about things we did weeks or months ago. But we're dating everything accurately, so the posts will appear in the correct order on the main page. But it'll be a bit confusing if you are reading these as emails.

And just because it's beautiful in an other-worldly kind of way, here's a picture of me pondering the Utah landscape to tide you over:
