Indian Rocks BLM (by Caleb)

The next place we went to was some random BLM land in Utah. When we got there the sun was setting, the grasshoppers were buzzing, and we were all eager to get out of RV. Jordan, Asher, and I went off on a walk and played one of our imaginary games. That night the stars looked down where we lay as we drifted off into the world of sleep... ZZZZZzz zzz zzz. The next day we drove to a Cabela's parking lot.

Cabela's Parking Lot: Part 3 (by Caleb)

Don't laugh please. I know this is the silliest blog I have written so far, but I hope you respect that this took five  minutes  out   of my day. On a different thought, where can I start? A parking lot after all is a hotspot for adventures which are very interesting in the least to say! I can easily note the surprising quality of the pavement and how the layout of the whole area not including the store was geniusly designed, and I haven't even mentioned the store itself! Well maybe I should get real. The parking lot was about the same as any old paved piece of land you've ever seen. We arrived then literally went to sleep right afterwards. The next day we continued driving to someplace else.

Henrys Lake State Park: Part 2 (by Asher)

We liked Henrys Lake State Park so much that we decided to go back. We didn't see any trumpeter swans this time, but we did see hundreds of american coots! The next day mom and I stayed behind with the Jeep while the others left for Island Park, ID to get some repair work done on the RV. We hiked some familiar trails then went to the ranger station so that I could turn in my junior ranger book. The we left for the RV repair place in Island Park.

We arrived at Henrys Lake on the twenty-fourth of September. This was our second time at Henrys Lake SP .  The park looked very familiar which was a good thing because I knew where everything was. We all took showers that night and we watched something on the TV.  The next day we relaxed and I played video games (like every decent American child should). We also moved to a new campsite that day too. That night we watched some stuff and slept in very pitiful RV beds. The next day we packed up and left to an RV fixer-upper place. We were getting the slides and the bathroom door repaired and other stuff checked. Jordan and I got there first because we were riding in the RV while Asher and mom were back at the state park getting a Junior Ranger badge for Asher. Jordan and I relaxed in the waiting section drinking hot cocoa and playing on my Nintendo Switch. When Asher and mom arrived we drove to the really nice library there to wait on the RV. When we got back to the RV everything...

Heart of Glacier RV Park (by Caleb)

Image
Finally, after a long long drive, we crossed back into the USA at the border crossing. Not long after we got to America again we arrived at Heart of Glacier RV Park. The next day we started school. It wasn't pleasant, but we got through it. That night I went on a walk with mom and Jordan. The next day we drove to Glacier National Park. We drove on the Going-to-the-Sun Road and stopped at the occasional viewpoints. The views of the cliffs were pretty and we even saw a mountain goat in the distance. Since Glacier was a popular scenery destination we saw a lot of brides and grooms taking wedding pictures, and to make my life easier I combined the words and referred to them as "brooms." We ended our drive by stopping at a river with pretty red rocks. We played around the rocks and jumped from island to island if possible. The river was freezing and I got cold shocks every time I put my feet in. Two days later we went to Glacier national park again. We drove the Go...

Glacier National Park

Image
Quiz: How many glaciers are there in Glacier National Park? Answer: About 24, down from somewhere around 80 during the Little Ice Age a few hundred years ago. And those that remain will likely be gone by the end of this century, leaving us with Used to Have Glaciers National Park. During our travels, this park is probably the most asked about. "Have you been to Glacier yet?" We didn't know why, but we knew it would be special just due to the sheer amount of chatter. We were fortunate to visit during a time of low smoke. That's becoming increasingly hard to do if you visit in the fall, which is wildfire season. Glacier picks up smoke from fires in Oregon and Washington. We had talked to numerous people over the past year that were smoked out. It was hazy on our first day in Montana, but the smoke had largely cleared by the day we visited the park. Other than hiking (which is phenomenal here), the main attraction is the road through the park: The Going-to-the-Sun Road. ...

Canadian Blog to and from Alaska (by Jordan)

When we got to Canada, we went to Canyon Alpine RV Park. I gathered firewood with Caleb. It helped keep some of the bugs away. but there was still a ton of mosquitos. We had pasta outside that night. We ate quickly because it soon started raining. Mom did a lot of laundry while we were there. We got huge popsicles. It took me a while to eat it all (it was not the fact that it was big; it was the fact that we had ice cream in the freezer). The next RV park was called Whiskers Point. There was a new playground there we played with kids a little bit but, like the last place, the mosquitos were bad. The next place was the 341 milepost pullout. We stayed the night and then we continued on our way. The RV park after that was Liard Hot Springs. As you might have guessed, it has natural — and relaxing, I might add — hot springs! Don't worry, there was still a lot of mosquitos there but not so many at the hot springs. We stayed there two nights and we went the hot springs twice. The hot spr...

Canada (by Caleb)

On the seventeenth of July, twenty twenty-two we packed up and drove to Canada, our first step in going to Alaska. We drove a seven hour drive into Canada and ended at a campground by a river. We tried to have a campfire but it started raining. We also took showers that night. The next day we drove to a boring RV park called Whiskers Point Provincial Park. I didn't go outside really except there was a playground there so that was nice. The next day we drove all day to a pullout on the side of a highway to stay for the night. Asher flew the drone and took some pictures of the landscape. The scenery was really pretty, but the road was right there. The next day we packed up and drove to Liard Hot Springs. When we finally got there we checked in then Jordan, Asher, and I walked to the playground but we soon found that the mosquito situation there was not looking good. Thankfully, I only had at least 16 mosquitoes swarming around me at any given time we were on the playground, so that ...
