Heart of Glacier RV Park (by Caleb)

Finally, after a long long drive, we crossed back into the USA at the border crossing. Not long after we got to America again we arrived at Heart of Glacier RV Park.

The next day we started school. It wasn't pleasant, but we got through it. That night I went on a walk with mom and Jordan.

The next day we drove to Glacier National Park. We drove on the Going-to-the-Sun Road and stopped at the occasional viewpoints. The views of the cliffs were pretty and we even saw a mountain goat in the distance.

Since Glacier was a popular scenery destination we saw a lot of brides and grooms taking wedding pictures, and to make my life easier I combined the words and referred to them as "brooms." We ended our drive by stopping at a river with pretty red rocks. We played around the rocks and jumped from island to island if possible. The river was freezing and I got cold shocks every time I put my feet in.

Two days later we went to Glacier national park again. We drove the Going-to-the-Sun Road, but the whole thing this time. Last time we had only gone part of the road.

On the way we stopped at McDonald falls and Cascade Falls and played by both of them. We had lunch at McDonald falls, then continued down the road to the McDonald lodge.

At the McDonald lodge we relaxed then went outside. Outside we played in the water that was there and I made a really big and tall dam which made a nice little pond. We saw some deer while we were playing and they got pretty close to us.

After that we drove to the end of the Going-to-the-Sun Road then turned back. At Logan Pass, about halfway through the Going-to-the-Sun Road, we did a trail that ended at an overlook of a lake. We rested then walked back to our car. After that we drove back to home sweet home!

The next day we got in our jeep and drove to the Many Glacier area of Glacier NP. That day we were driving to a trail called the Ptarmigan Tunnel trail. We realized it was a 10.6 mile hike round trip. That would be one of and maybe the longest hike we would do on the RV trip (not counting New York).

We set off on the very scenic trail. Here is a brief overview:
  1. We started hiking up a big hill which was very exhausting.
  2. We hiked along the upland grassy area with a lack of trees for awhile.
  3. We reached the tree line and hiked below leafy canopies.
  4. We reached Ptarmigan Falls, halfway there!
  5. We reach a very old forest where the temperature was noticeably different compared to the hot outside air.
  6. We got past the forest and hiked right by a big lake.
  7. We got past the lake and saw the steep climb ahead of us which was up a big hill but was unfortunately the only way up.
  8. We climbed the three switchbacks to get to the tunnel.
  9. We enjoyed refreshing shade, great views, and snacks at the tunnel.
  10. We had to go all the way back.
  11. My feet hurt.
After that we drove back to the RV! Honestly in these blogs I think I've written "back to the RV" one million and two times.

The next day we had to do SChhcoooOoLLLlLlLL, may I rest in peace. Maybe that was a little too dramatic. How about "We did SccHhHOoOOOoOLLLllLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL", and that was the end of all things happy and exciting.

Two days later we drove to Glacier NP. While there we did a short hike to a waterfall. We sketched the scenery then left.

The next day we found a mouse in one of our live traps so we released it somewhere where it could do no more harm to our RV.

The next day we went on a ranger-led hike through Glacier NP. We walked a while while the ranger talked about different animals and invasive plants and other stuff like that. We also saw mountain lion scat!

The next day we packed up and drove to Henrys Lake State Park (for the second time).
