Cedar Creek RV Park (By Asher)

Cedar Creek RV Park is in the town of Montrose, CO, twenty minutes from Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. We came here because the campground at the national park was full and so that we could have full hookups.

There is a new wooden playground here that we played on a lot. We went to the Montrose Rec Center to check it out. The Rec Center was great! It had a two pools, two water slides, diving boards, and a climbing wall. (And some other stuff like Basketball courts and Fitness areas, but we didn't go there.)

Having a snack

On Saturday we went back to Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP (That's too long. Why can't it just be called Black Canyon NP?) There's a lot of overlooks on the scenic drive.

This is called the Painted Wall

The Painted Wall

We saw a person rock climbing the canyon

After we did the drive, we drove down the East Portal Road to the bottom of the canyon.

The reason this road is there is so that people could make a water diversion tunnel.

There were good skipping rocks there.

The next day we went back to the Rec Center but this time dad came with us. The climbing wall was closed today but we had a lot of fun in the pools. Today there were "lily pads" that you ran across.

Here's a successful run by Caleb:

And a not so successful run by dad:

[Editor's note: I was far better at the high dive. Plus, I suspect the pads were faulty.]

Dad's going off the high dive

On Wednesday we went back to the Rec Center. The climbing wall was open today. Afterwards, we went to a few thrift stores to get stuff to make our Halloween costumes.

The next day we went to a park. There was a fun skate park there and a playground with a zipline.

The next day we went to the Rec Center again. Dad came too. Most of the time I was practicing front flips off the diving board.
