Community Baptist Church Wedding (by Jordan)

Candace and my mom are friends and Candace asked her to be a bride's maid. As we were driving into the parking lot of the church where Candace and Steven were getting wed I realized that we were trying to go through a gate. There were some cons about this idea but I realized I could only think about 1 pro.

So I'm basically saying, I don't like this idea.

There were low hanging branches, the gate looked way too tight, and there was basically mud on the ground!

Well it turns out we could not fit through, so we started backing up. So, back to the mud. Two sentences ago we talked about the mud, well here it comes in! We unhooked the Jeep. And we started backing up and our wheels got stuck!

And to think going through the gate was supposed to be faster.

It turns out that the pastor of the church had just bought a winch and had not used it so he thought he'd give it a try. He hooked it onto our RV and out we came! Yay!

Then we drove around back the slower way to the RV parking spot.

Since we were living in a RV we did not really have any nice clothes. Mom was a bridesmaid so she had already ordered her clothes. So Asher, Caleb, Dad, and I went to the store to get clothes.

While we were at the store mom went to the rehearsal dinner. When we got back from the store we did too (we did not know it at the time but we were invited to the rehearsal dinner!). We ate then Dad, Asher, Caleb, and I went back to the RV and watched Thor.

We slept anticipating tomorrow.

What an exciting day!

The next day, mom had to go to the getting ready room which was all the bridesmaids including Candace together in one room curling hair, getting black dresses on, doing nails, and contemplating if they were pretty enough.

While mom was in the getting ready room we went to the beach. When we got there Caleb and I were so excited that we ran down the boardwalk to the beach and saw a bunch of shells on it. And I don't mean just a few shells sprinkled on the beach I mean shells on top of each other in piles. And later when we had already collected a few shells Caleb found a huge conch shell which was later used as a christmas present to our grandmother, Nana. And the waves were medium sized. When we were getting shells we ran up to the beach and when the waves pulled back we ran back up the beach. We left the beach with lots of pretty shells.

We went to the wedding after the beach.

When the bridesmaids were coming out in the middle of the hallway... I COULD BARELY RECOGNIZE MY OWN MOTHER!!!

She definitely DOES NOT like dressing up.

Then there was all the talking, Candace and Steven kissed, and then there was horrendously loud cheering.

Before the wedding mom made some cookies for the cookie social they were having after the wedding and that's the part we're at in the story. When we got to the gym where the cookie social would be held there was a long table with a table cloth over it with platters of cookies on it! I think I ended up eating 7 or 8 cookies. There was even popcorn cookies on the table! There was also the sugar cookies with frosting and little sprinkles on top on the table that you could find at the store there. I did not find any pictures of it so just picture this : ⛩+🍪= yummy.

So there is the wedding at Community Baptist Church.

Everyone all dressed up nicely. The guy on the left is the groom (Steven) and standing next to him is the bride (Candace).

Great RV spot! It was practically in the mud. But it was a convenient place to park. 

Here are some of mom's cookies. Obviously, they are not cooked yet.

As we traveled the country, we tried to experience local culture. We didn't have much time in each location, so we thought that one of the best ways to do this quickly was to partake of local foods. Therefore, in addition to our National Park theme , we also had a "local food" theme. As we hit each state, we ate a food famous in that state. Just an example; we didn't go off of this map We quickly came to realize that this is a very subjective endeavor. Before we started, I ignorantly assumed that each state would have one or two "famous" foods, making the selection process easy. Not true. First of all, most of what shows up on lists of foods by state is hardly "famous." It's more like "foods you will definitely find in this state and may or may not find elsewhere." Lassen Volcanic National Park

We have officially entered the Pacific Ring of Fire. Well, we've technically been in it for the past few months while in California, but none of the parks we've been to have been related... until now. Starting with Lassen, we're about to hit multiple parks built around volcanos. Other than Mt. Saint Helens and that one in Hawaii that never stops, I would have been hard pressed to name another volcano that erupted in this country... ever. But sure enough, Mount Lassen erupted numerous times between 1915 and 1921, doing quite a bit of damage to the surrounding area (there is a section near the mountain called "the devastated area," which is humorous because it's all grown back and looks perfectly normal now). We've had remarkably good weather for our park days, but as you can probably tell from the picture above, that luck ran out at Lassen. My Family's House (by Jordan)

It all started out with our adoption. We've been waiting for about 3 years to adopt a child. When my dad put the house on Zillow someone's wife wanted to buy it in 10 minutes. But the husband promised his wife a pool. So they didn't buy the house. There were a few others that I can't remember. But finally Melissa and Tim stepped up! They bought the house. We left March fifth. Tim and Melissa have a daughter named Brook. We are on March sixth now and we are enjoying our time at Poinsett State Park!
