Granny & Grandaddy's Farm (by Jordan)

First we went to my aunt Tynessa's house and we parked the RV there. Then we brought the bunnies, bags, and clothes to granny's house.

Then Granny got Fresh Air BBQ for dinner and also a free giant cake because Granny and Granddaddy go there so often. Dinner was delicious. For dessert we had part of the cake.

Then we got ready for bed. Asher slept in the bottom bunk and I slept in the top bunk of the bunk bed. Caleb slept in a pullout couch. All the beds were in the same room.

In the morning I had a biscuit for breakfast and Caleb and Asher had cereal.

Because it was a week day we did school.

That night we watched the movie Heaven is for Real, a true story of a little boy's trip to heaven and back.

For dessert that night we had vanilla cake.

The next day mom's brother Jason came over and we played a game called party quirks. He gave Caleb, Asher, and I $50 for Christmas. He also took Asher, Caleb, Granny, and I out to a Mexican restaurant for lunch. He left before dinner.

The next day was Christmas Eve! We went to a Christmas eve service. We held candles. We also cut part of the candle off (dad said it was a Johns family tradition).

I am pretty sure I raked the yard that day. Also it was so cold that I went outside to dump the ice from the animals' water bowls and filled them up with fresh water.

Then we slept thinking of the Christmas to come tomorrow.

The next day we watched the sun rise.

I dumped the ice out of the bowls and checked for eggs.

If you did not know, Granny has 3 peacocks, 9 chickens, 1 rabbit, and two cats. She also has a huge garden, muscadine vines, and lots of blueberry bushes.

Chickens, I hope you find something tasty in there!

Well, hello there!

For lunch we had mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, a fruit salad, mac and cheese, and pecan pies all on China plates and bowls.

On the left is aunt T, in the middle is mom, and on the right is Granny! They are cooking together.

Wonderful Christmas family dinner!

We even had fancy napkins!

Granny gave Caleb, Asher, and I $20 for helping on the farm.

Caleb and I put clean and soft litter in the chicken's litter boxes.

We left Christmas evening to go to the Lay house.

As we traveled the country, we tried to experience local culture. We didn't have much time in each location, so we thought that one of the best ways to do this quickly was to partake of local foods. Therefore, in addition to our National Park theme , we also had a "local food" theme. As we hit each state, we ate a food famous in that state. Just an example; we didn't go off of this map We quickly came to realize that this is a very subjective endeavor. Before we started, I ignorantly assumed that each state would have one or two "famous" foods, making the selection process easy. Not true. First of all, most of what shows up on lists of foods by state is hardly "famous." It's more like "foods you will definitely find in this state and may or may not find elsewhere." My Family's House (by Jordan)

It all started out with our adoption. We've been waiting for about 3 years to adopt a child. When my dad put the house on Zillow someone's wife wanted to buy it in 10 minutes. But the husband promised his wife a pool. So they didn't buy the house. There were a few others that I can't remember. But finally Melissa and Tim stepped up! They bought the house. We left March fifth. Tim and Melissa have a daughter named Brook. We are on March sixth now and we are enjoying our time at Poinsett State Park!

Lassen Volcanic National Park

We have officially entered the Pacific Ring of Fire. Well, we've technically been in it for the past few months while in California, but none of the parks we've been to have been related... until now. Starting with Lassen, we're about to hit multiple parks built around volcanos. Other than Mt. Saint Helens and that one in Hawaii that never stops, I would have been hard pressed to name another volcano that erupted in this country... ever. But sure enough, Mount Lassen erupted numerous times between 1915 and 1921, doing quite a bit of damage to the surrounding area (there is a section near the mountain called "the devastated area," which is humorous because it's all grown back and looks perfectly normal now). We've had remarkably good weather for our park days, but as you can probably tell from the picture above, that luck ran out at Lassen.
