Natalbany Creek RV Park

When we were packing up, our neighbor came over and gave us their unused bottled water. No one has done that before, but I am glad that they did. They told us that where we were headed had bad storms. Thank you Lord for this knowledge and kindness. We ended up changing our plans and going south to go under the storms. It was cloudy, drizzly and very windy.

Since we would have to back track and since I had not paid for the next site, I called around and changed our accommodations to Natalbany Creek RV Park in Amite, LA. The other RV park was located in Mississippi and an area that had a tornado.

We arrived at the RV behind the casinos at night; parking is always harder at night. There was an issue with the electricity not grounding right and so we moved to a site right by the duck pond. Michael accidently ran over the damaged slide cover so he folded it up with the help of the Jeep and threw it away.

Caleb and Jordan had a cough and so we brought out the facemasks.

On Wednesday after school, we went to Uncle Tim's house in Kentwood, LA. We haven't seen them since they met us in New Orleans in 2019. We had a nice visit! The kids got to make a peach cobbler and ate it with ice-cream! We started a cute kittens in boots puzzle while we talked and watched the  movie "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs."

Thursday was December 1st, so the advent envelopes and chocolates began! After school we headed out in the Jeep to visit family. Unfortunately a rock from an oncoming semi nailed my front windshield.

While I talked with Uncle Billy and Aunt Darnell, the kids watched Looney Toons and searched for the two cats to pet outside. That night Michael and I had small group via Zoom. Before bed, we watched an episode of "The Mysterious Benedict Society."

After a half day of school, I dropped Michael off at the brand new, just about to have a ribbon cutting library to work. I did the rest of the school day with Aunt Robbi and her friend Ms. Patti. She gave my a Cypress knee! I have never been given one before. She likes to carve things into them and I might do that down the road. For now, it makes me giggle inside; and I like it. Ms. Patti is very kind.

My cousin Garrett came over and did some cool fingerprint finding with the kids. I brought the kids to enjoy the new library for a little while when we went to go and pick Michael up from work. They have a new digital globe that has a projector on the inside of it and had about a hundred displays.

I read a few kids books; I could frame this page from one below that says, "I love hugs. I've been told I am really good at giving them." Me too. And with Covid these last few years that is something I have not been able to give to others. Thank you Lord for family!

We went back to have dinner and finish the puzzle with Uncle Tim and Aunt Robbi.

On Saturday, we had such a great time making and eating gumbo, pralines (Louisianians say prah-leens), and juice-running-down-your-arms po-boys!

Now this was not planned, but was too perfect... the SEC Championship Game between LSU and UGA was playing on this day! My mom and Frank were watching too! The very first touchdown with UGA picking up a fumble without LSU noticing was crazy. UGA won 50-30 and my relatives weren't sore about it. We had a great time!

We packed up the RV in the morning. I went on a scooter ride with Caleb and we rode to the gazebo on the other side of the lake. We went to church at First Baptist Church of Kentwood. We sat next to Uncle Billy's sister. Uncle Billy was in the choir with Taryn his granddaughter.

Once church was over, I met Aunt Kitty's son Brent and his family. We went over to Aunt Billy and Aunt Darnell's house for lunch with Taryn. Taryn held Jordan's hand as they went to pet the cats. The sweet tea reminded me of my Nana's sweet tea because it had lots of sugar! Yum! The jambalaya was so delicious! She said that she used rice, chicken and sausages with jalapenos.

Aunt Darnell made this great quilt out of Uncle Billy's old post office uniforms!
